A few years ago, when our daughter was 4, we invited her to participate in a footwashing ceremony with a small group of our closest friends. We explained the reason for the ceremony, the symbolism of washing each other’s feet, and why Jesus washed the disciples feet. She loved it; she wanted to wash everyone’s feet. The pure, innocent, wholehearted love she had for the friends in that room reminded me of the love God has for us and that we should have for each other. Easter is one of my favorite times of year: fun, family, Spring, and candy. But it is more than that. It is a time to reflect on the gift of Salvation, the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, and the privilege that gift affords us.
