What is the first box that comes to your mind?
Maybe this box contains your favorite cereal or is filled with sentimental valuables? Maybe you think of a box that holds your mail or one from which you pull Kleenex?
Boxes have many purposes. We use them daily to hold, conceal and carry everything from cereal to Kleenex. The boxes that filled my life this time last year are back again! The boxes of then and now are plain, old cardboard MOVING boxes. That’s right, WE’RE MOVING!
This time last year, we had just made our way from Jefferson City to Saint Charles. We spent the month of June saying many goodbyes and hellos. We thanked the wonderful people of Jeff City First Church of God for welcoming us and making us feel like a part of their family! And we ventured to build new relationships in the city where God had called us. We were starting new jobs, learning a new city, and settling into a new home. This move was scary and exciting, full of unknowns as well as confidence in God’s plan.
This year, we’re making another big move into our first house! With two years of marriage under our belts and a desire to create some roots Saint Charles, we bought our first home (you know, the kind with a yard you have to mow yourself?). So one calendar year later, we’re packing it all up again but the moving distance is considerably shorter!
As we go about the task of packing this year, our boxes are filled the cliché “stuff and things,” but they also contain precious memories. We’ve collected memories from this past year of trusting God like never before. Special memories from spending Saturday nights learning the stories of each person at The Table. We’ve worshipped together, prayed together, and welcomed new faces into our lives! It’s been a remarkable experience to watch God draw people to Himself. He’s responsible and He knows we mess it all up sometimes, but we’re doing our best to be His vessels. We thank God for the opportunity to be in Saint Charles and commit ourselves to His vision for The Table.
Jacob and I feel very humbled to serve in this way, so off we go with our boxes to continue this adventure!
