A few years back, I invited my brother to run with me in a 5K race. He quickly agreed and we started training for the race. It was a good 6 weeks away. I know what you are thinking…and you are right! 6 weeks was not enough time to train for the race that was set before us. But we did not let that stop us. When we crossed the finish line around the 29-minute mark, we were spent. We were done. We had finished the race. In November of 2015, we began a race here at The Table. This race was a marathon. We began remodeling a nearly 60-year-old facility with limited resources and limited time. Thankfully, we had an amazing group of leaders and volunteers to help out with the project. And then on Saturday evening, August 13th, we were able to host a huge celebration to launch our church into the community of St. Peters, Missouri. The people who came out to our launch event tremendously blessed us. There were over 110 in attendance that night. We had a huge amount of out-of-town guests; 40 in all who drove great distances to show their support. To those friends, family members, and ministry partners we are grateful! We were delighted to have 13 of our new neighbors here with us touring the facility, eating cake, letting their kids play on the bounce house we had rented, and most stayed for dinner and worship. Also in attendance that night were 19 new friends who came from the area because of a personal invite of one of the Table Gatherers. I cannot say enough how proud I am of the amazing people who call The Table home. Just like I enjoyed running the 5K race with my brother; I thoroughly enjoyed running this race with the Table Gatherers. This race, however, is different. We all recognize that we are just starting here at 49 Circle Way. The Lord has provided for us to be here. We will be faithful with the chances we get to serve the community, meet new friends, teach the Gospel of Jesus boldly, and gather together for fellowship, story sharing, prayer, dinners, and worship. Please continue to pray for The Table. As a plant team, we are gearing up for jumping back into the church ministry mode after spending so much time in the facility remodel mode. We know God has a tremendous vision for us so we will be spending some days and months ahead working out the steps to get us there. Will you also pray for us as we go out into field as laborers for the Gospel? Pray that this facility would be a welcoming space for those who feel forgotten. Pray also that the words that are spoken, sung, and shared here will be carried past these doors into a broken world.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
