A couple years back, I attended a Bethel concert. It was a new level of a worship experience for me. The music was incredible, the words were meaningful, and the crowd unified in worship was awesome! Sometimes when I think about how I should worship God, I imagine a beautiful song. Singing praises to God is always a great way to worship our Creator. However, there is another way to truly worship Him that does not include lyrics nor melodies. Check out this verse from Paul's letter to the early church in Rome:
12 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Each time we sacrifice our desire for God's plan, we are worshipping Him. Each time we expend physical energy to serve God, we are worshipping Him. Is your worship balanced? Do your sacrificial actions match the sacrificial words you sing to God? This week we will focus on our service to others. Today, I want to ask you to pull out a sheet of paper or open a new note on your phone. Begin to list the areas in your life where you are offering your life as a living and holy sacrifice. Some of us need to take a look and be reminded that we could be doing more. Some of us need the reminder that we are doing plenty, but maybe we need to be reminded that we are doing too much. Either way, make a list and then show it to God and ask Him for his thoughts on your list.
May you find a place to serve that is music to our King's ears!
