Change is hard. Even if the change results in great things, it is still hard. We have had a lot of change since I last wrote you in July. We are working through every bit of it and trying to squeeze everything that God has for us out of our experiences.
Thank you and we praise God for all who are lifting up our needs in prayer: on August 5th we moved into a rental house in St. Charles that is exactly what we prayed for; after looking for a job for only two days, Jon started framing with McBride & Son on August 28th; our needs are continuously and faithfully being provided for!! We are completely relying on God, and He is amazing!
We have experienced a great loss. On August 8th, just three days after we moved to St. Charles, Jon's mom, Pam, went to be with the Lord. Even though it was a huge loss and we are regularly aware of the hole she has left behind, we were so privileged. Because we were only 20 minutes from the hospital, we were able to spend valuable, precious time with Pam and our family during those last three days. Those days were invaluable. Thank you all for the lovely words, gifts, and visits. It was encouraging to get to see so many of you at the memorials for Pam. Thank you for the love you continue to show our family.
I loved how Jon laid out the foundational reasons behind why we have stepped out on this journey in his August newsletter (read it here). I hope he answered some of your questions, he does that so well. The next question is usually something like: "how is it going, what are you doing next, what's the plan?". We are in what I'm calling the "getting the ball rolling" phase. We have all of the legal paperwork done, we are a recognized congregation and 501c3 charity, we have lots of ideas and dreams, we're doing research and getting out in the community. We don't quite know yet how all these pieces are going to fit together, but the ball is rolling. We are having weekly strategy meetings and planning for the next five years as a growing, thriving, healthy body of believers.
We are planning an event in October for the people in the St. Charles area who have heard about and are interested in The Table. At that event we will be able to meet new and familiar faces, cast the vision for what God is trying to do through us and hopefully begin a small group. We ask that you pray specifically for this time as we try to connect with those who God has already pricked their hearts for this work.
Thank you so much for your interest and support of our family as we journey on this path. We value your friendship, wisdom and prayers!
Raise $1,000 by 10/25 to cover the expense of our first community event
Raise $10,000 by 12/31/14 (we are 39% of the way there)
30 in attendance for our October community event
15 interested in a small group to begin in our home
Everyone we have met in St. Charles is super nice
Abi and Clay have joined Awana's at a local church, they love going every week with our friends
We are meeting new friends and neighbors and getting to know the area
The Table was so blessed to receive the funds given in memory of Pam Simmonds
The first contract on our house fell through, please pray for a quick and beneficial sale.
That the Holy Spirit would work through us to show this community how loved they are by Christ.
Continued financial sustainability for our family as we transition to one income and rent + mortgage.
Additional team members to co-labor in the work of Christ in this community.
Abi is adjusting well to her new school and beginning to make friends. She has an awesome teacher. All of the "new" is still being pretty emotionally draining for our little girl.
Clay is our little charmer. He is caring and compassionate. I'm enjoying being home with him to hear him tell me my cooking is "the best in the world" and that I look pretty with my hair down.
Again, God has blessed us with a home beyond what we asked. This home is spacious and will allow for us to have a large group of people meeting here regularly.
