I think the best way to count your blessings is to remember the times when you felt overwhelmed, under qualified and out of control.
It seems that when we think back on those times, it's easy to remember the times following that when God showed up! He tends to want us in a place of weakness before we see His strength. That's exactly where I was this time last year. As I prayed for direction with my new spouse, I got to see first hand how God would lead us as a married couple. We desired to know His plan for us- where to settle, what jobs would be provided, what would our ministry focus be, etc etc.
After months of wondering how God would use us and if we would have answers to these questions any time soon, Jon and Amanda asked us to pray with them about planting a church. Having been a student in their youth ministry and good friends long after that, I felt confident in their leadership and God confirmed quickly that He wanted us to be a part of this exciting new ministry! Even though there were (and still are) countless unknowns that came with that confirmation, I couldn't consider myself anything less than awed and amazed. God is consistently showing Himself more powerful than any question or fear I may face.
Since this time last year, I've been living an overwhelming, out-of-control string of blessings!
