“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”
This is the verse that is the foundation of this year's Missouri Youth Fellowship. When the Student Leadership Team met for the first time in February, this verse soon became the basis of everything we decided. We discussed some of the trials teenagers face and one is maintaining your faith throughout the year not just at Camp Sharon or MYF. We want students to come and learn how to live for God in their everyday life and share their faith with their peers.
The Ramada Oasis in Springfield, MO, is the home of the 2015 MYF. With the newly renovated conference center, it is the perfect place for the youth of Missouri to come learn more about God.
It will be hard to pick which conferences to attend on Saturday morning,. Tim Heller will be speaking about transitioning from high school to college and how to maintain your faith. Some of the other speakers include: Jon and Amanda Simmonds, Keith Mason, Jerry Webb and many other familiar faces around the state.
When deciding who to have speak at the convention, we looked to leaders within the Church of God national movement. Andy and Candace Stephenson are very important leaders in the planning of International Youth Convention every other year. Andy has served as the leader of the Youth and Family Ministires for the Church of God movement in Anderson, Indiana with over 2,000 churches in North America since 2001. We are excited to hear how God uses the Stephensons at MYF.
Micah Phifer is a common face in the Church of God. Having grown up in Missouri, Micah has participated in MYF as both a student and a leader. This year he will be taking a different approach. Micah and his band will be leading worship for the conference. Micah graduated from Mid-America Christian University with a degree in Music and Worship Ministry. He has also earned a certificate in Audio Recording from The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences.
If you are interested in participating in MYF 2016 but don’t know how, consider filling out an application for the Student Leadership Team. This is a group of student leaders who plan and carry out all that needs to be done for this event to take place. By being a part of the team, you learn valuable skills on how to set goals and accomplish tasks.
