Simmonds' Snapshot: December

December 15, 2015

Last Saturday marked another milestone at The Table: we celebrated our second Christmas together! This year we had even more families join us for the celebration! We have now begun remodeling the facility in St. Peters and are very excited for how God will use that building!! This time last year we were preparing to begin meeting on a regular basis as a church, dreaming about what that would look like. Now, one year later – we are looking back in amazement at what God has done in these twelve months and feel immensely blessed and thankful for the people He has surrounded us with.  God has answered so many of our prayers and continues to prove himself faithful! This year has been challenging, as you would expect, but we have also seen our faith grow and deepen.
In November, Jon and I were thankful to each lead a conference at state youth convention. Storytelling is a huge part of The Table and how we love to connect with people. At MYF, Jon was able to help teenagers realize how powerful their stories are in telling people about God. Through sharing brief, two-minute stories with their peers, they were able to gain confidence in communicating how God has worked in their lives. I was honored to share about human trafficking with about 150 students. Trafficking is something I am passionate about and The Table is playing a part in eradicating! We will be celebrating Freedom Sunday on February 14th. This is a yearly awareness event in our network to educate people about human trafficking through the Church. At The Table this year, we will be watching the trafficking documentary "Nefarious" on Saturday night, then on Sunday morning, I will have the opportunity to share about the issue!
Last month, Jon and Abi ran a 5k with Girls on the Run. Abi had trained two hours a week to be able to run a 5k with her friends and her dad. They did great and my parents were here to help Clay and I cheer them on! Abi was very excited to get a medal afterwards. I am thankful for the scholarship that enabled her to participate. We also celebrated Clay’s 5th birthday in November!! He is such a hilarious little man who loves to sing and is gifted at making people feel special!
In January, our family will have the privilege of attending the Faith Promise Convention at Cypress Street Church of God in West Monroe, Louisiana. Jon will be sharing about the importance of being mission-minded and about our experiences planting The Table in St. Charles. Cypress Street was the first church to support us on a monthly basis, for which we are very grateful to their congregation and Pastor Neil Oldham for joining this vision!
We are eager for what 2016 will hold for The Table! Thank you for continuing to be with us on this journey. Regularly, Jon and I remind ourselves that this journey isn’t about us, nor is it being accomplished by our strength or skill. When we accepted God’s call to plant The Table, our role was obedience. Because we know we could not accomplish this on our own, we can't take credit for what is happening. Only through obedience have we been able to be part of what God is doing in and through The Table.

I’d like to ask you go join us in some specific ways. Hopefully one or two of them will stick out to you:

  1. We are $1,700 away from meeting our 2015 budget of $20,000, would you consider making a gift to help us reach this goal? This can be done via mail or online via PayPal

  2. Remodeling our facility will take many hands, would you consider offering your time and hands to work on the building? We would love to have you or a group, come to one of our Saturday workdays. Those dates so far are Jan: 9, 16, 23.  We will be adding more workdays later as we go along.

  3. Would your church be interested in partnering financially with The Table on a monthly basis?

We hope your Christmas is a time of refreshment before the new year arrives. The kids and I are lucky enough to get to spend some extra time in Lebanon this year! I know 2016 will be a busy one around The Table!

If you are ever around the St. Louis area on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning, we'd love for you to join us for a Table Gathering!!

Click on the picture above, you will find a search box, put in Table Church, and select our organization. Then, if you shop through Amazon's Smile site, this is an easy way to give a little extra to what is happening around The Table.
